It’s Verbena

This is a beautiful tall surprise of purple in the spring known as Verbena bonariensis, or “Tall Verbena,” or “Argentinian Vervain,” but be careful with this one; it is invasive. Originally from South America, it is a heavy self-seeder. Can you think of some native alternates? Here are some of our great native suggestions: ironweed, gayfeather, or a selection of beardtongue!
